NO
The Luz House doesn’t differentiate – A Jew is a Jew. This viewpoint is the gateway for singles to take initiative and become stakeholders toward events and programming.
Participants do not have to consider themselves religious to participate.
Participants seek relevant, updated, and unique path to connection within a Jewish singles community.
We encourage your input and feedback as we work to support the most vibrant Jewish singles communities for you!
Police will be present the entire time at Shabbat Socials and Saturday Night Events (Melaveh Malkahs).
Precautionary resources have been considered to enhance protection at all events.
Dinners will be themed each month.
At the Shabbat Socials, there may be an interactive Shabbat friendly game or ice breaker for the attendees to get to know one another. Simple wine and challah blessings will be said by host (attendees are welcome to join). Prayer cards will be provided for those that would like to participate. Prayer books will also be available for those that want more from their experience. Nothing religious is required.
At the Saturday night gatherings (Melavah Malkah), you will find a similar experience to our Shabbat Socials. There may be a Havdalah or similar prayer said. The focus is on enjoying our singles community and learning more about one another!
All meals will be vegetarian based (there may be a fish appetizer or small dish). Foods will be kosher, prepared kosher, but not under the supervision of a Rabbi.
If you have further questions about the kosher quality or need special arrangements, please do not hesitate to contact jennifer@theluzhouses.com. Our goal is to be inclusive!
Single use products and plastic utensils will be used during the meals. Tables will be covered in tablecloths. The facility that Shabbat Social Dinners and Melavah Malkahs will be held is not a certified kosher facility, though steps will be taken to uphold integrity.
The Luz Houses will not enforce a dress code.
However, we ask that participants uphold Jewish values in the appearance portrayed at events. Please choose to be respectful of others. Although Jewish modesty isn't enforced, your best judgements are appreciated. Thank you.
